Basic Function
The primary function of a magnet sensor in a refrigerator door is to detect the door's position, i.e., whether it is open or closed. This is typically achieved using a reed switch or a Hall-effect sensor.
How It Works
Reed Switch Sensor: A reed switch is a type of magnetically operated proximity sensor. It consists of two ferrous contacts enclosed in a glass tube. When a magnet is brought close to the reed switch, the contacts close, completing an electrical circuit. In a refrigerator, the magnet is usually attached to the door, while the reed switch is mounted on the frame. When the door is closed, the magnet activates the reed switch, indicating that the door is shut.
Hall-effect Sensor: This type of sensor detects the presence of a magnetic field and converts it into an electrical signal. When the refrigerator door is closed, the magnet on the door aligns with the Hall-effect sensor on the frame, triggering a signal that indicates the door is closed.
 
NC (Normally Closed):This indicates that the switch is closed by default, When a magnet approaches, the switch opens, breaking the circuit.
NO (Normally Open):This indicates that the switch is open by default. When a magnet approaches, the switch closes, completing the circuit.
